Lara Spencer And Husband Split After 15 Years, Couple Announces Separation
Lara Spencer and her husband David Haffenreffer are separating after 15 years of marriage, Gossip Cop confirms. The couple announced the surprising news on Saturday.
In a joint statement, the “Good Morning America” co-anchor and Haffenreffer said, “After a lot of thought, care and consideration, we have decided to end our marriage. It’s a sad decision that did not come easily, especially because we respect and love each other and our children.” The parents of daughter Kate and son Duff, added that their kids “remain our top priority. We will raise them and care for them together.”
Their September 2000 wedding took place in ritzy Southampton, New York, and was featured in Martha Stewart Living. At the time of their wedding, Specer was a reporter for WABC in New York (and “Good Morning America” contributor), while Haffenreffer was a CNN contributor. He now works in real estate.
Just one month ago, Gossip Cop corrected a wholly fabricated story in the National Enquirer that claimed Spencer and Matt Lauer were supposedly “flirting up a storm” at an unspecified event, though we learned they “barely know each other,” and it’s been years since they’ve even been at the same event. Unfortunately, Gossip Cop anticipates the tabloids will begin to wildly speculate over the cause for the separation. We, however, will continue to separate fact from the fiction.
