Lamar Odom NOT Dead, “TMZ” Report Fake
Lamar Odom is NOT dead, and a purported TMZ report claiming he died is fake.
A website by the name of “TMZ Today” has been running a false story for the last few days announcing “Lamar Odom Pronounced Dead At 35.” The accompanying article states, “Retired NBA player Lamar Odom has passed away this evening at Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.” It further says, “Lamar Odom passed away with his ex wife, Khloe Kardashian and ex mother in law Kris Jenner at his side.”
But it’s all a sick, sick lie. The bottom of the website notes, “Tmztoday.com is a combination of real shocking news and satire news. Please note that articles written on this site are for entertainment and satirical purposes only.” Despite the disclaimer, the article keeps getting re-circulated on social media as fact when it is anything but.
The real TMZ was even forced to comment on Friday, “We are in NO WAY affiliated with an imposter site called http://TMZToday.com reporting Lamar Odom has died. Furthermore, the report of Lamar’s death is false. If you’re not on http://TMZ.com (and our social media platforms) it ain’t us.”
Perhaps needless to say, but the fake TMZ Today report is as disgraceful as it is irresponsible. This is not “entertainment,” but a tragic life-and-death situation. And it’s exactly what Kobe Bryant’s wife Vanessa railed about earlier this week.
As Gossip Cop reported, Vanessa blasted false claims of Odom’s death on Instagram, writing, “People shouldn’t be posting/reposting that he is deceased when it isn’t true. Just imagine what his loved ones must feel like to receive such terrible news.” She couldn’t be more right.
As of Friday, Odom remains unconscious and unresponsive in a Las Vegas hospital, where he is on life support with a feeding tube and ventilator. He has NOT died. Period. Gossip Cop will continue to separate fact from fiction and have accurate updates.
