On Saturday, Lady Gaga proudly posted a picture of overflowing crowds at an outdoor show in Quebec, noting on Instagram, “Those little dots are fans, and that’s our stage and lights beaming from the center. Unreal 90,000 ppl showed up! What a magical night #artraveQuebec” (see first pic below). Unfortunately… the photo was actually from a Metallica concert there in 2011. Oops.

To her credit, when blogs pointed out the mistake, Gaga was quick to correct it — and to slam allegations that she was trying to oversell the attendance at her own show. She tweeted at one outlet, “You can post the real [photo], was not trying to fool anyone. I love my fans and am celebrating.”

Gaga included an accurate picture of the crowd at her concert, showing that she definitely wasn’t lacking for supporters (see below). Then Gaga seemed to throw some shade. Tweeting the correct picture at another site, she wrote, “Maybe the Madonna fans on your site can use a microscope to count the fans.” Oh my.

What do you think of Gaga’s goof and recovery?
