Lady Gaga Tells Sony: “Do What Is Right” And “Free Dr. Luke” To “Free Kesha”
As Gossip Cop has reported, Kesha and Dr. Luke are locked in a legal battle after she accused him of physical and sexual abuse and he in turn alleged she made up the claims in an extortion attempt. Last week, a judge denied the pop star’s request to be let out of her record contract with the producer. But though Sony has maintained that she can work with another producer, Dr. Luke would still be indirectly involved with any of Kesha’s released music and profit off of it.
On Friday, fans protested outside Sony’s headquarters in New York, demanding the company rectify the situation by cutting ties with Dr. Luke. It’s a stance Gaga agrees with. Late Friday, she posted video footage of the demonstration on Instagram showing her watching it on her phone. The superstar wrote in the caption, “#PeopleOverProfit you can #FreeKesha if you #FreeDrLuke Do what is RIGHT not what is better for business.”
Gaga’s post came a day after she shared a statement encouraging others to stop victim-shaming Kesha and others who have suffered sexual assault. For her part, earlier Friday Kesha had her attorney post a snippet of her singing a ‘thank you’ to fans, something she reiterated to paparazzi at LAX later in the day. See Gaga’s Instagram below.
