Lady Gaga Called “Slut” By New York Official — For Smoking Pot on Stage

Lady Gaga’s recent on-stage pot smoking in Amsterdam has gotten her labeled a “slut” by a New York public official.

Staten Island Borough President James Molinaro made the comment on Monday at the launch event for his new Tackling Youth Substance Abuse program.

Speaking about the “tremendous influence” the media and celebrities have on kids, Molinaro pointed to a poster board that featured two photos of Gaga smoking up, and blasted the singer.

“There’s Gaga. Here’s this … this … I would call her a slut,” he said, adding in a sarcastic tone, “This slut is influencing many, many children … and it’s right to do. It’s fine, it’s part of it.”

He continued, “My niece has two daughters, 12 and 14, [and] they love this woman. Why? Why?”

Molinaro went on to accuse “actresses, actors, ballplayers” of using “drugs as if it’s nothing,” arguing that, “We shouldn’t praise them. We shouldn’t honor them. We should really hit them. We should hit the sponsors that she has … where her millions of dollars come [from].”

“To me, she’s not an actress, she’s a slut … in the pure meaning of the word,” he added, according to the Staten Island Advocate.

Later asked by the New York Times to clarify his use of the word “slut” — which usually does not refer to someone who uses recreational drugs — Molinaro stood by his comments, noting he wasn’t referring to the songstress’ sex life.

“Looking up the word ‘slut’ to see if it was properly used before I used it, it said ‘improper conduct,” he told the paper.

Molinaro, whose son died from a drug overdose in 2006, explained, “Now, isn’t it improper for someone who is so high profile to be smoking reefer in front of children?”

“I have grandnieces that idolize her – 12 and 13 years old – and it’s ridiculous,” he told the Times. “You see these young girls walking around on Halloween with her outfit on.”

Gaga has yet to comment on Molinaro’s remarks.
