Lady Gaga Takes Polar Plunge In Chicago For Second Consecutive Year (PHOTOS)
Lady Gaga took the Polar Plunge with fiance Taylor Kinney in the freezing waters of Chicago’s Lake Michigan on Sunday for the second year in a row. The annual event raises money for the Special Olympics, a cause now dear to the singer’s heart. See photos below of Lady Gaga and Kinney doing the 16th Annual Polar Plunge.
In a series of captions, alongside photos of her and Kinney at the Polar Plunge, Lady Gaga wrote on Instagram, “We love the city of Chicago and the Polar Plunge for The Special Olympics. These men and women are brave and powerful. Me and Taylor love getting cold in your honor every year.” She also explained on Twitter, “You can’t have empathy without pain. Get FREEZING cold so they can feel your warmth. #SpecialOlympics #PolarPlunge.”
After she took the plunge, a man carried the superstar out of the freezing water. Kinney, for his part, made it out on his own, along with Al Roker.
As Gossip Cop noted, this is the second consecutive year the couple jumped into Lake Michigan for the Polar Plunge. Last year, Lady Gaga’s weave froze in the icy water. She wrote on Instagram then, “I thought my wig was gonna freeze into and become one with the lake.” This year Lady came prepared with a hat.
