Lady Gaga National Anthem Super Bowl Video: Watch “Star-Spangled” Banner Performance Here!
Lady Gaga performed the National Anthem at Super Bowl 50 on Sunday. Watch below!
The pop star sang the “Star-Spangled Banner” on the field at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California just before the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers compete for the 2016 NFL Championship. In interviews prior to the big performance, Gaga said she would not be doing a flashy rendition, instead wanting to show the song, and our country, the respect it deserves. And the Grammy-winning singer delivered.
She was joined by Marlee Matlin, who beautifully performed the “Star-Spangled Banner” in sign language for the hearing-impaired. Gaga’s gig as this year’s National Anthem artist was only announced days ago. She follows in the footsteps of Idina Menzel (2015), Renee Fleming (2014), and Alicia Keys (2013).
As monumental as the Super Bowl is, it’s only one of three huge appearances Gaga is making this month. On February 15, she will take the stage at the 2016 Grammy Awards to pay tribute to David Bowie, who died last month. And on February 28, Gaga will attend the Academy Awards as a first-time nominee for the original song “It Could Happen To You,” though it’s unknown if she will be performing during the ceremony.
