Lady Gaga To Kesha: Boys Won’t Be In Charge Forever
Lady Gaga praised Kesha on Sunday after the latter “killed it” with her performance of Gaga’s “Til It Happens to You” at Saturday’s Humane Society’s “To The Rescue” gala in Hollywood. Gaga noted the tangible “pain” experienced in Kesha’s performance of the song, used in the documentary about rape on college campuses, The Hunting Ground, could be felt by many at the charity fundraiser. Gaga further assured Kesha that “boys won’t be in charge forever.”
Before performing, Kesha, who accused Dr. Luke of sexually assaulting her, told the crowd gathered at the gala that the song was dedicated to “every man, woman, child, animal, that has ever been abused.” When Kesha finished singing, the song’s co-writer, Diane Warren, hugged her. And hours later, Lady Gaga tweeted, “Killed it @KeshaRose. I could feel your pain. Girl these boys won’t be in charge forever. The wisdom of women is rising. Let’s get louder.”
Lady Gaga has been a strong supporter of Kesha, ever since the singer sued Dr. Luke and Sony to get out of her contract. As Gossip Cop noted, Lady Gaga gave a stirring performance of “Til It Happens To You” at the 2016 Oscars, where she was joined on stage by survivors of sexual assault.
Saturday marked the second time Kesha took to the stage in as many months. Kesha and Zedd performed his song “True Colors” at Coachella. That was her first time singing in public after suing Dr. Luke. Check out the video below of Kesha performing Lady Gaga’s “Til It Happens To You” at Saturday’s Humane Society gala in Hollywood.
