Lady Gaga Discusses ‘Born This Way’ Controversy and Madonna [VIDEO]

Lady Gaga addressed the controversy surrounding her song, “Born This Way,” which some claim is a rip off of Madonna‘s “Express Yourself.”

While appearing on the “Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” the talk show host asked her about the comparison, and Lady Gaga responded by first saying, “There is really no one that is a more adoring or loving Madonna fan than me. I am the hugest fan personally and professionally.”

Then the singer told the audience that she received an e-mail from Madonna and her people “sending me their love and complete support on behalf of the single. And if the queen says it shall be, then it shall be.”

    I immediately recognized the melodic similarities, but I think the song is great and both Madonna and Lady Gaga are amazing, artistic women that aren’t afraid of a little thing called criticism.

    I’ve been saying it’s total rip off of Maddona’s ‘Express Yourself’. Seriously Lady Gaga needs to stop and never sing that nockoff song again.

    I can definitely see similarity between these two songs from a structural and tempo standpoint, but that’s not a satisfactory reason for disliking a song. I don’t really understand all the Gaga haters out there. It’s not like Madonna has been doing much lately, and I welcome that Lady Gaga wants to pick up the mantle to be the Pop Diva of this generation.
    One more point…this isn’t the only song of Lady Gaga’s that bears resemblance to Madonna (Alejandro reminds me a lot of Isla Bonita). Madonna is great, why wouldn’t other artists be inspired by her (either consciously or subconsciously). That said, Gaga has plenty of songs that are entirely different from anything of Madonna’s.
    I’ve got mad love and appreciation for both of these Artists, and liking one of them shouldn’t mean you have to dislike the other….

    I would hate it if Lady Gaga were pop diva of this generation. There are quite a few others that DO deserve that title more than she does. Others that have been working harder and longer for their career than she has. She just sings for attention. Her performances and videos are her own little freaky fashion shows. I think her music is okay, if you want something to dance to. I believe it’s a phase that will wear out. I used to be a fan of Gaga’s, until Christina Aguilera came out with her album, and everyone pitted the two against each other and started insulting Christina’s work. I’ve been a fan of Christina Aguilera’s for a very, very, very, long time and I will choose her work over anyone else’s.

    She just confirmed that she`s been ripping off Madonna`s songs… And the curious thing is that lots of people still think she is talented and amazing… And people say she is great because she writes her own songs,,, Now that we know her songs are just parodies we can wonder how hard it was for her to write them…. no wonder she wrote BTW in 15 minutes….

    Even if you think the songs melody or music or what ever it is you want to call it is a rip off of Madonna’s “Express Yourself” wasn’t it Madonna who said only a few years ago that is what musicians do, they use others as inspiration, if you remember it was not so long ago that they said that madonna copied the music of justify my love from some other song and by the way if madonna had much of a problem with it i doubt she would have attended Lady Gaga’s concert at madison square gardens a few days after the release of “Born This Way”. but all this aside can’t you just accept the song for it’s beautiful meaning, if not all i can say is don’t listen, let those of us who adore them both listen and enjoy it. If you don’t like what you hear change the channel, its your right. Rights are something this song is all about so by all means exercise your right to change the channel and listen to someone else please.

    Lady ”CACA” is just a ridycolous nothing.She has no talent and in a few years no one will remember her!Madonna is here ruling Pop scenes since the beginning of 80es and she’a STAR and an ARTIST.Lady CaCa is just a Circus Phenomena and nothing else.THAT’S ALL!
