Lady Gaga Did NOT Get Restraining Order Against Alleged Crazed Fan
5:18 pm, November 11th, 2010
There’s a report everywhere today that Lady Gaga has been granted a restraining order against a deranged female fan who threatened to kill her in a murder-suicide.
According to numerous media outlets, the New York resident who sent a menacing letter to Gaga is now prohibited from coming within 500 yards of the pop star.
Management for Lady Gaga supposedly “intercepted” a scary letter from the Russian-born woman that read, in part, “You come to my dreams. I want to die and I want to die together with you.”
“I am not Mark Chapman,” the woman reportedly wrote, alluding to John Lennon‘s killer. “It is not only you who will die. I will shoot a bullet through my head too.”
Extremely scary stuff, obviously.
But it is still unclear how much of it is actually legit.
Gossip Cop has spoken to Lady Gaga’s personal rep and sources at her record label, and we’ve been told that Gaga has not sought or received a restraining order against this individual.
It’s unclear whether there even was a letter from the woman who’s been named in countless media reports today.
Any threat should be taken very seriously, and no amount of caution is too great when someone’s safety is at stake.
But there is NO restraining order, and outlets should refrain from publishing the individual’s name until more facts come to light.
