Lady Gaga: Charlie Sheen “Brave” For Revealing HIV Status
As Gossip Cop reported, Sheen appeared on “Today” on Tuesday morning for a live interview with Matt Lauer. The actor revealed he’s been HIV-positive for four years. He further admitted he was moved to come forward to stop blackmail attempts by people who knew about his condition.
Regardless of the circumstances, Gaga is offering Sheen her praise. On Instagram, the pop star posted a screengrab from Sheen’s interview. In the caption she wrote, “#BraveCharlie.”
Gaga then went on to plug her own non-profit organization, writing, “@bornthiswayfoundation, an opportunity for people all over the world to learn about modern HIV prevention, treatments, and emotional intelligence as it relates to the stigma of the virus.”
Gaga launched the Born This Way Foundation in 2012 to encourage youth empowerment. The singer is also an outspoken LGBT rights activist. And just last month, she performed at the amfAR Inspiration Gala to fundraise for AIDS research.
It’s unclear if Gaga and Sheen have ever crossed paths, though they both appeared in Machete Kills. In his interview on “Today” and in an open letter released afterward, he expressed interest in using his situation to help raise awareness about HIV. Perhaps it’s something the two stars can work on together. TELL US: What do you think of Gaga calling Sheen “brave”?
