Lady Gaga wore an eye-catching bra-and-underwear ensemble to the 2015 Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards in New York on Thursday. Check out the photos below!
While Gaga’s career is considerably short compared to those who have been inducted into the organization, the pop star was on hand to receive the first-ever Contemporary Icon Award. The honor was announced in April. It was said then that the award was intended to celebrate someone “who has attained an iconic status in pop culture.”
“It could be said that this honor was created with Lady Gaga in mind. She has enjoyed monumental popularity on the charts, on radio, TV and the Internet, not to mention the continuous press coverage she has generated,” Songwriters Hall of Fame President Linda Moran explained. “She is a consistent hit maker who has surprised everyone by proving to be as adept with the great standards as she is with her own songs. We at SHOF are particularly proud that Lady Gaga performed at one of our songwriter showcases when she was still known as Stefani Germanotta.”
Hours before the event, Gaga took to Instagram to share her excitement for the night ahead. “Being a songwriter is first and foremost how I identify in life,” she wrote. “Tonight’s Award means a lot to me.” Later on the red carpet, Gaga sported funky sunglasses, platform boots, fishnet stockings, and matching black bra and underwear that was barely covered by an open red jacket. The nipple areas of Gaga’s top actually had fringe tassels hanging out.
And she wasn’t to be the night’s only youthful honoree. Nate Ruess was to receive the Hal David Starlight Award, which is given to young songwriters who have already impacted the music industry. Of course, the main reason for the gathering was the 46th annual inductees, which were to include Cyndi Lauper, Linda Perry, and Toby Keith.
