Kylie Jenner Wheelchair Photos Debated On ‘The View’ (VIDEO)
Kylie Jenner’s controversial wheelchair photos led to a debate by the hosts of “The View” on Wednesday. Watch the video below!
As Gossip Cop reported, Jenner came under fire after posing in a wheelchair for her photo shoot with Interview magazine. While the magazine stated it was never its intention to offend anyone and supposed to be artful, many people felt using the wheelchair as a prop was insensitive.
Whoopi Goldberg began the debate on “The View” by pointing out that even though the pictures were “kind of crazy,” Lady Gaga didn’t receive the same kind of backlash when she performed in a wheelchair during one of her past tours. Raven-Symone corrected Goldberg, and noted there was fallout, but nowhere near as much as that experienced by Jenner.
Joy Behar chimed in that “back in the day” Bette Midler also used a wheelchair as a prop when playing Delores De Lago, but explained that she needed it to move around the stage since the character was a mermaid.
Symone then piped in that she was “more offended that [Jenner’s] a** is out” in the Interview photos, though she felt it looked “quite nice.”
Michelle Collins said she believes people “just get enraged when it’s Kylie Jenner,” adding that she thinks people would have let it “slide” had it been her sister Kendall in the wheelchair because she’s a “real model.” Symone disagreed, saying the disabled “community” would have been offended no matter who it was.
Behar wrapped up the debate by posing the question, “Do you think that part of the reason Gaga and Bette Midler don’t get flack for it the way these girls do, is because they actually have a lot of talent?”
