Busting bad dish!

Site’s cheap shot at Kristen Stewart for Vogue piece

(HollywoodLife.com)

Maybe HollywoodLife should just stick to (poor) reporting, because every time the site editorializes, an angel loses its wings.

And no one confuses the HollywoodLife crowd more than Kristen Stewart. The site is flummoxed that the actress refuses to do what it wants.

Even when they’re “complimenting” her… they manage to muck it up or just come across as tone deaf.

(Like the decision to call out Stewart as antisocial on the night she helped to raise money for Haiti.)

The buzz this week has been about Stewart’s Vogue story. HollywoodLife’s reaction? Attack!

“The ‘Twilight’ beauty gets glam for ‘Vogue,’ but her attitude towards fame is still as downcast as ever,” comments the site.

Oh boy.

Wearing gorgeous clothes for a renowned photographer, Stewart “still manages to be her shy self” for the writer, HollywoodLife says.

“The actress also manages to enchant the author by dropping lines like ‘I could be happy in a paper bag’ — as she wears over $1,000 worth of clothing,” sneers the site.

Yes, she’s wearing expensive clothing.

For a Vogue photo shoot.

People tend to dress well for those things.

Why, exactly, are casual tastes a problem? Because for HollywoodLife, they demonstrate just how sad Stewart must be.

“We do hope that between your recent big Eclipse payday and devoted hunky boyfriend you are at least feeling cheerful inside!” snarks HollywoodLife.

Perhaps Stewart would be a tad more “cheerful” around writers, if outlets like HollywoodLife stopped chiding her for no reason at all.

Why is this considered “busting bad dish”? They aren’t lying about her, only interpreting her interview with their own slant, just as you do yours. But anything for the hits, right? You’re still exploiting her.

Anyway, the Photoshop is atrocious. They should have worked on her reflection, too. They took a pretty girl and turned her into Stretch Armstrong.

    i hate HollywoodLife’s

Bring it – the more Stewart is attacked the more ways I find to like her and become entrenched in my view. The more she handles it so well the more awesome she seems. Stewart is the class of the Twi operation. Fact of the matter is, whether you love her or hate her – you’re talking about her and giving it your energy (and money apparently). She is predominately driving all polls in the positive direction to her favor. Obama barely saw numbers like hers. I’ve never seen anything like it and I was alive during Star Wars. She’s only 20 years old and already an icon.

All the people and publications that go negative on her just look like mean idiots. It backfires every time.

I don’t get it GossipCop. They are just making an observation. It’s not the end of the world. To some, to a lot actually she is a two faced idiot. She’s pretentious in the way she goes on and on about how casual she loves to dress, and then bashes designers clothes. Clothes that an artist took the time to make. It’s not nice. She’s rude and nasty, and if I have to hear her complain one more time about the paparazzi I am going to throw up. It’s like damn shut up already.

  • lala

Look it comes down to this the girl is famous but she aint girly she is just talented HL is going to make fun of her because they think movie star they think blond bland and talentless they don’t understand KS and they never will

    BECAUSE SHE ROCKS

Speaking of flummoxed with back-handed compliments… Could somebody put Nikki Reed back in the box already? The way she dishes on her life and co-stars – sheesh. I thought the idea of promotion was to get people into the theater? I’m just saying she squawks like a teenager whose invite to Homecoming Court was stuck in the mail – now she’s going all Carrie on everybody. Mentions everyone but Kristen in US Weekly. Compliments that are loaded to others. Alludes to their smoking issues. Spilling that Kristen was out of town during her birthday to the press. Kissing up to everyone who grabs a camera’s attention. Playing that awful daytime soap opera clip of Eclipse on Ellen where she trashes Rosalie to a nearly unrecognizable character (even Stewart couldn’t bail her out – she refused eye contact in favor of her hideous wig and went for “the profile”). Talk about life imitating art: “I’m jealous of you Bella, why don’t you hang out with me anymore?” It looks bad.

It’s like All My Vampires without the benefit of undead Susan Lucci. Please somebody make it stop!

LOVE YOU K-STEW! I don’t get it, why does anyone read HollywoodLIfe? They always make something up or completely twist a story!

  • DeeBee

Kristen is young, beautiful , wealthy, talented, famous and, oh yeah, has a mind of her own. She’s been criticized for being miserable, antisocial and even a bad role model, not that she ever wanted that title any way. The fact that she dosen’t crave attention and can be happy in a paper bag makes her more likeable and, in my opinion, just fine as a role model. The thing is, role models don’t have to be perfect; just honest and decent.

HollywoodLife seems to be another trash can liner that wants attention anyway it can get it. I’d never heard of HollywoodLife before this post so there ya go!

I’m with Hannah, lala, Maha and DeeBee. Why?

A special breed of actress: Before I’m dismissed as a Twit, I saw Adventureland before I’d even heard of Twilight 4 months ago. It was a small film. I liked it – she was very real, believable and kind of mesmerizing in it. Kristen has that believability effect on every other character in her films too. That’s not a small feat considering some of her roles are fantasy driven. If you are her romantic lead – you become sexier and more romantic. If you are her comedic pairing you become funnier. If you are evil – you are creepier. If you are sympathetic – you become heartbreaking. How does Kristen do that? Now that I’ve seen Twilight, New Moon and The Runaways I realize she really does that for her co-stars (with the exception of a few who are past saving). I can’t fathom that she’s so young sometimes considering her presence has such impact on-screen. It’s a demure, easy to overlook, hard to pinpoint gift and has a viral effect on those around her. Have you noticed that nearly everyone who comes into contact with her is elevated in some measure? I think Pattinson said once, “Kristen is my insurance policy for authenticity.” That’s a good way to say it.

A refreshing change: She doesn’t suck up and smile and dance for cameras on command. She doesn’t detract from or dish on her co-stars and friends publicly. She stays focused and endures a lot of severe crap (this article as an example). Kristen has heart – it’s clear, and being genuine in a swirling world of crazy must feel rudderless sometimes, but she does it anyway. She has good taste, power and the world’s attention but she doesn’t try to sell you anything or cash in on anybody. If she compliments you – take that gold to the bank. I get a sense she has a bullshit radar on par with Superman’s X-ray vision. People and institutions give her a hard time because she refuses to be packaged for consumption in the Disney boy band sense and she won’t sell your margarine if it tastes like crud. Bravo Kristen! She is generous with her celebrity – to causes, projects and other co-stars (even when they don’t deserve it). She seems to protect things and people that are important to her. That garners my respect. Some back-stab her coyly and she still won’t be goaded and still doesn’t squawk – she’ll just gracefully close the door. I’m not a celebrity hawker – I loathe all that stuff and all the pageantry and sell-outs, but I follow Kristen’s career. I’m one of those that gets really turned off and uncomfortable around fake and obvious people (insert a lot of her Twi co-stars here). It wouldn’t matter to me if she took on another large role either – she’d still be real. We haven’t seen many like her in Hollywood.

A host of traits: She’s stunning, versatile and smart. She’s schmexy super steezy without trying. She can go from sweatpants to high fashion, dorky to siren in 30 seconds and they all look at home or awesome on her. Kristen doesn’t take the easy road, says what she thinks and she’s made to pay for it. She seems to have high ideals/ethics. She doesn’t pull cheap tricks or tattoo lady parts on her foot for attention. She’s in an entirely different category than her contemporaries – somewhere above the fray. Kristen raises the bar and sets the curve to a point that all the Bs and Cs get a little indignant or scared, yet she doesn’t answer or play into any race or competition scenarios. I believe a lot of people don’t understand her because she doesn’t monkey to stereotypes and they aren’t used to that. She confesses when she doesn’t think she’s made the grade too. She’s not self congratulatory and eschews mindless fawning. I’m the youngest in my family, but if I had my choice of a punky sweet little soul sister – I’d want her. That means she’s accessible. She bakes pies and plays guitar too. :) Every guy I know has a crush on her, and most girls I know with any self-esteem want to emulate her.

Somehow, I don’t get the sense that she believes or takes much stock in any of this opinion flotsam because her mind is focused elsewhere, or on her next or current accomplishment. That’s why I just ultimately love her. At least I hope she brushes off the ridiculous negative spew and let’s the vast majority of positive things in. I think she champions underdogs – but, just because the minority opinion is tinier than the adulation doesn’t mean she should elevate it beyond the trash bin. This too shall pass.

Alynn, I totally agree with you. I couldn’t have said better.

Kristen is a talented, beautiful, humble and sincere young woman. Which is very refreshing in Hollywood.

I am a mom with two boys, would totally not mind have a daughter like Kristen. I have followed her career since she was a little girl. I saw her in Panic Room, Catch that Kid, the Cake Eaters, Speak, Adventure Land, The Yellow Handkerchief, The Runaways and host of other films. Kristen works hard and is a total professional. She has received undeserved criticism. I just love the fact that she is not perfect, she is the first to admit it. I am a very girly girl, however, I love my jeans and T-shirts. I can’t imagine that every article of clothing, my hair, my nails, shoes etc. being placed under such a microscope. My sons (and my husband) do not like the Twilight Saga but love Kristen. They keep telling me that she is the best thing about the films.

I hope that she doesn’t take much stock, as Alynn put it in all of the BS written by the tabloids, tabloid websites. I hope that she rises above all of this and achieves the success she desires on her own terms.

Thanks Kristen for being who you are….. Alynn well put on your opinion as I am a great Kristen fan of many of her movies that she has done in the past, present.. I couldnt have put it in a better way of what is said. Kristen is a unique individual, very down to earth and loves what she does, that is why she puts her heart and soul in every character she chooses… For that I love what she does to bring them to life like Bella, Joan Jett, Adventure Land, and so on…, many more I hear she will be doing this so cant wait for more roles Kristen will take, My daughter is 8yr and loves watching Kristen in the Twilight Saga along with Panic Room when she was 11, her movie many years ago. I also wanted to to say Kristen has inspired me to change and to make better choices in my life and because of her I THANK HER!! I keep hoping that someday I will meet Kristen so she can see the change she has given me.. Kristens words that helped me in pass 11months were “OWN WHAT YOU WANT TO OWN AND KEEP IT TO YOURSELF” with these words I literally held on to and has changed me . So Kristen Thanks again. I hope youre reading this and just maybe youll find time to speak to me … You are my inspiration =)

no matter what the people said bout her. it will never change the fact that she brought justice to the character we love so much which is bella swan. come on guys why are you not critizising LLo instead. she needs them more. kirsten stewart is a just a typical girl who is still trying to cope with herself, her fame, her love and her self acceptance.just because she doesnt act to what the hollywood wants her to be we label her as bitchy and miserable. nope, nope, she is simply genuine in every way.she is what you call ‘what you see is what you get.’ i think the hollywood is getting a big slap with her perpective of celebrity. i agree with her saying that one cant label beauty from what she’s wearing. love you kirsten n dont change a thing not even for your rob k.stand strong just shws the world around that your a good actress.
