Actually I know a guy whose wife cheated. They divorced and a year later he was still wearing shirts and team caps she bought him. US Weekly is losing steam. They thought they could earn another headline about a confirmation of a break-up and instead they find out that it will take more to break up Rob and Kristen. And now they’ve dialled down from “break-up” to “estranged”.

It’s a very long novel about a man graduating from Oxford I think in the 1950′s. He has best friends who are together and a gf. And then this strartling thing happens as they graduate and are rowing on the Thames. They find a decomposed body in the water and the reeds. And while they are reporting this and discussing why this woman and who she was might be there he waits with his friend’s gf while the others go to phone in. And the chemistry – for want of a better word – changes between these two friends. They realize that they are erotically attracted to each other, but she is his best friends gf and they will marry. They don’t do anything but the awareness is there.

And one afternoon they do and she says now its over. She marries his friend and he marries his gf her sister. Through the years he and her sister divorce, he goes to Hollywood to do screenplays, has lots of women. When they were young the religious ideology restrained them. this is the time of On the Road in America and Hollywood loosens up and Dan does too. In later middle age his friend is dying and wants to see him. They had broken with each other when he wrote a play in London that was thinly disguised about all of them, before he went to Hollywood. He returns to his friend and finds his wife, his old first love, estranged, cold, indifferent not the young spontaneous aspiring actress she was at Oxford who could have been great. His firend tells him he is sorry. Jane has told him the truth about the two of them, he is a religious don at Oxfords (Cambridge maybe), and he is worrying about leaving Jane a widow when she has spent her life acquiescing to his superior moral philosophical view of the world. He goes home to have dinner with Jane and the news comes that his friend has jumped out the hospital window.

And so things change dramatically in an instant. Dan has a lovely young lover in Hollywood, a starlit of some gift, and a sensitive perceptive young woman who loves him very much. She also is British. And so it goes back and forth as he gets to know Jane again as friends, and at some point he understands finally the meaning of agape love. Anyway it is a wonderfully intelligent novel interwoven with his daughters and his ex wife who is remarried, and all the old British life. There is a fine and constant play on the British intelligence and sensitivity of nuance and the American inability to even know what that is. And of course being the writer Fowles is the strength of American culture is not overlooked. And Dan is caught between. And it is his journey through all this to what love really is.

In addition to having a complete collapse in personal judgement, her mistake showed a complete lack of self-awareness regarding her career. Sanders was a pig with only one thing on his mind but she was the one with a lot at stake. This was going on for a couple of weeks, she had time to make better decisions and didn’t. Hollywood is a business. Her actions affected 5 films and two franchises and countless people associated with those projects. let me tell you something. I happened to have Kristen’s type of metabolism. I am petite and could probably eat more than most people here . straight up scary. the moment i stop eating like an animal i drop pounds like hell. Kristen has stated that she struggles to not get too skinnybecause she is naturally thin. i know what she is talking about. on the video where she was eating out with Rob, she would not stop eating. in a sn like this even eating your regular meals, you end of losing weight. that has happened to me and trust meme, people were not saying that they were going to kill me nor was I pounded for 8 weeks on the media.

I sure hope so. What a courageous girl. Glad to see her so happy. She has lost a lot of weight. I hope that she is doing well. It would sure be wonderful to see her and Rob back together. I just love happy endings … and no i am not a teenager but just a happy woman that loves to see people be able to work through things and come out on top. I’ve been over this scapegoating thing which has been around since ancient times. In 1966 I taught in a “free school” and they didn’t know what free meant until I started teaching there. I had been in grad school 4 years previously in psych and here I was taking over a class again. These kids had driven 2 teachers (bullied I would say) out of the classroom and school by the end of September, beginning of October. It was something I tell you. The norms had quite changed. Tattling had been encouraged by the first grade teacher. When I had gone to school in the late 30′s and 40′s if you tattled you got a stern look and were told to mind your own business. Now in 1966 it was standard procedure and I had a job stopping it. “What is you want me to do about that?” And I would investigate, find the suggestions. Then it would be, “If I do that, what will be the consequences?” Eventually it stopped and they each figured out how to handle the situation. It’s part of Eric Berne’s Games People Play. That one book can get you far. Bascially we are playing Ain’t It awful! only not everyone agrees it is awful, so we are not playing the cultural game of AIA and nothing will infuriate people more than calling out a game and/or refusing to play it. My second and third graders taught me all about this.
