Kristen Stewart on Tavis Smiley: Camp X-Ray Is ‘Reminder’ Of Harsh Reality (VIDEO)
Kristen Stewart appeared on Monday’s “Tavis Smiley,” where she talked about her new movie Camp X-Ray, an intense drama about a young soldier’s experience as a prison guard at Guantanamo Bay.
“It’s very coincidentally timed. We’re lucky that it’s coming out at the time that it is,” Stewart told Smiley of the project, adding, “It’s a political subject that is so human… it’s easy to forget that there are people walking that line right now.”
Stewart continued, “Not to sound so self-important, but this movie was an exciting prospect because it was a bit of a reminder.”
In another recent interview, the actress revealed how happy she is with where her career is, transitioning from the blockbuster Twilight to more independent work like Camp X-Ray.
“I really have no apprehension about anything, which is great… I’m super happy and challenged and inspired and relaxed,” she told USA Today. Stewart added, “I’m also not that uncomfortable with [fame] because I’ve gotten used to it. I am really traversing this and getting stronger every day. I’m better at this than I ever have been. I like being uncomfortable. I like standing up to things.”
