Kristen Stewart: Social Media Is “Empty And Distracting”
Kristen Stewart will not be joining social media anytime soon. The actress reveals in a new interview that she finds the notion of sharing one’s personal life with the public “empty and distracting,” and simply doesn’t understand the appeal of online interactions.
As Gossip Cop reported, the actress appeared on The Hollywood Reporter’s “Awards Chatter” podcast on Monday to discuss her film, The Clouds Of Sils Maria, which deals with the nature of celebrity obsession. As for her own fame, Stewart says, “It’s weird because it does shape the way I have to approach my everyday life.” However, Stewart maintains, “I’ve never fed into it. I’ve never had a public Twitter. I’ve never had a public Facebook or things where people go on and look at your every move, like Instagram… because it’s just so empty and distracting.”
Stewart further expresses her frustration with people who “don’t view [social media] as what it is,” which she feels is “nothing at all… It doesn’t exist.” The actress, however, does understand there’s a demand for celebrity news, admitting that such content produces “a lot of money [and] a lot of hits on websites.”
