CLAIM: Kristen Stewart, Jay Z and Robert Downey Jr “Turned Down” Barbara Walters Most Fascinating People Interviews
According to the webloid, the journalist had included the rapper, actress, and actor on an early list of contenders for the 2013 special, but was forced to cut them out after all three declined to participate. “Typically, Barbara very carefully starts approaching people in September for the special, but she always accounts for getting turned down by some of her interview targets,” a so-called “insider” tells RadarOnline.
The outlet’s “source” goes on, “They start with 30 names and narrow it down to get all the interviews done for Thanksgiving,” and Stewart allegedly refused to make an appearance because she “hates being interviewed — by anybody — with a passion.” “But it’s interesting that Jay’s primary disciple Kanye West ended up on the special with Kim Kardashian,” adds the RadarOnline tipster.
Stop. There’s a big hole in this story: Walters does NOT require interviews to be included on “Most Fascinating People.” West and Kardashian were featured in archived footage only, and Walters didn’t sit down with other honorees such as royal baby Prince George or NSA leaker Edward Snowden.
In other words, RadarOnline’s claims that the three were supposedly in the running only to be cut because they “rejected” interviews doesn’t hold water. Walters selects whom she deems fit, regardless of whether she sets up an interview or gets personal approval. In any case, a source close to the situation tells Gossip Cop there’s “no truth” to the claims that Walters was “turned down” by Jay Z, Stewart, or Downey, dismissing the story as “silly.”
