Honestly, I don’t know how much her PR team can do after her apology. If she had ignored the photos all together, there would be always room to work around the doubt. Lots of people were willing to believe the photos were fake, but by making her public apology, she just gave them amnution to make the scandal bigger and worse than it already was. They could try to deny every single lie, but what would be the point?

The tragic thing about that apology is that almost no one understands it. Lainey thinks it’s lame. Various and sundry talking heads around cyber-space think it’s a blunder, while others claim that it was tactically brilliant. Few if any of them see what I think is the truth. That wasn’t a calculated tactical move. That wasn’t for the public, or even then fans. Kristen has always been too professional and self-possessed to let what we think affect her more than marginally. That was a panicked young woman playing for an audience of one, reaching out to one person and one person only. Robert Pattinson. The rest of us were just bystanders. When you look at it, the entire early media strategy of this mess was bent towards a weird sort of one-sided dialog between them. No more. Someone else appears to be driving now, and their strategy appears to be “let it burn”.

If they get up at the MMA’s as anything other than a reconciled couple they might as well flush any hope of rehabilitating Stewart, even slightly, before the BD2 promotional work, right down the toilet. If they haven’t patched it up, best they both bow out, because Kristen alone would be booed off the stage, and Robert alone would just call attention to it.

It’s already started- their new release contains no spokesperson, just their bottle of perfume. Kristen is absent from the ad. Ballenciaga is a major fashion house. They cannot have their public face fronted by an actress who caused her own scandal by sleeping with a married man and father of two.

I have bo doubt her apology wasn’t directed to anyone else but Pattinson. In fact, anyone with half of a heart should admire her honesty and even her courage, because that apology was pretty much her saying “i don’t care if this is an invitation to the whole world to hate me and destroy me, I onky care that you know I am truly sorry!”. I see her apology two different ways: she either didn’t think about it and the repercussions, and only did it in desperation, or she did it with the main purpose of humiliating herself and punishing herself FOR him. How many people start off an inexpert opinion with “I’m no expert, but…”? Okay, here goes.

Get through the next few months as gracefully as possible and then drop off the face of the earth for a while, only to reappear in a year or so and re-brand herself. She’s young enough, talented enough, and respected enough in tinsel town that she could have a second break-out. Third actually, since SWATH was her break-out from Twilight. Proof that she was bankable outside of the Vampire-land. She won’t be the girl we knew, but that won’t matter to her in the least. She’ll be working, and aside from Robert, that’s what she loves most.

That’s the easy way.

The hard way is to make a public statement about what happened and why, including any and all mitigating circumstances. That would require her to stand and fight, with her team and Robert at her back. Depending on how its handled, that could have her back on her feet well before Breaking Dawn 2 opens. People LOVE to forgive. Noblesse Oblige. The biggest strikes against that are her and Rob’s highly-developed sense of privacy and her PR team’s seeming desire to follow a “let it burn” strategy. I guess they hope to put this behind her quickly by letting her be savaged in the short term. I think they underestimate the legs on this thing by a long shot.

Everything depends on what Rob does, and on Kristen’s courage. They can buck their teams. I suspect that they have before, many times. Option two is more the style of the girl we knew. It’s my preference because so far the fault for this mess has been placed entirely on Kristen. I agree with what you say, but there is just one “minor” problem – the sequel to SWATH.

If the company insists that they will go ahead with it, she’s bound by contract, and it will be almost impossible to work around this, because if she pulls out of this one too, she will lose a lot of credibility with the film studios, and then it’s gonna get really hard to put her career back on track, if not downright impossible.

If she’s in “bad standing” with the studios and film companies, she is done in Hollywood, and her career is over.

But i really don’t hope it will end up that way, because I like her and her movies, and looking forward to see what the future will bring us from this talented young woman.

Even if the affair wasn’t “long term” and it started after SWATH press tours like her team want us to believe (i don’t believe it, but going along with the theory…) this was absolutely NOT the first time for them. being sloppy and careless indicates this HAS been going on for a while, and they got reckless/cocky about not getting caught.

I think they got caught because it’s a lot harder to screw around once you’re in the same city as both your significant others and you can’t use work as an excuse to be together. Most of everything we see in Hollywood is fake, and it is really hard to seprarate facts in fictions in a world made of appearances. You would be surprised if you knew the number of manufactured scandals and fake relationships in Hollywood all over the years. They had met up so many times before at they just got complacent. They had spent a lot of time filming promoting traveling etc and the fashion interest she had developed that Rob commented on in one interview…. Saying he didn’t know why she suddenly got interested in fashion was probably because she was drawn to be in the company of that family. During and after filming. She made many bad judgement calls for months and no one saw the warning signs or read them correctly. Not Rob especially. Though I think he worried about how she had changed when he said on the MTV interview that he would like to push her of the chair. He was probably getting frustrated at the subtle changes he saw that he wasn’t getting satisfactory answers about.

I think she is with her mother. Her parents have split up and her mother is with her business partner now so maybe he is feeling personally involved in it all. her friends were always tweeting pics of inside their house and even Kristen’s pot on her bedside table so it’s unusual to not have fame whore tweets from at least one of hem

Yes but, Cali is an indie too, and Kristen has even been involved in the development of the project, as an executive producer, so I do not think she’s on a “ordinary” contract on that one, so to speak. Besides, IF she’s serious about reconciliation with Rob, I don’t think the lead as an edgy and sexy pornstar in a “gritty” indie movie, with some – allegedly – rather graphic sex-scenes in it, is the best way to do it. I too, hope she’s gonna focus on indies, and not the box-office, in the future, because I think they will develop her talent in a way, that multi-million $ productions not can, and I would actually LIKE to see her in more “dark, dangerous and twisted” roles in the future, I seriously believe she has the talent to do that kind of roles, and that’s rare gift.
