Changed cell phones, leaked e-mail addresses, are they talking are they not. At this point who cares, its their business. They have always been private and now even more so. Has the statement above, which is the Preamble to the SJP Code of Ethics, something that we have seen demonstrated by both print and online media in the past few weeks with regard to RP and KS?

My answer? An emphatic “NO!” As the article from the Inquisitor pointed out, everything that has been printed thus far, with the exception of the statements released by KS and He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named, have been from enigmatic “sources.” Sources that must be exhausted from how often they are speaking to the press. My god, they must literally never stop talking. Poor sources.

The only facts that we know are the following: there were a series of pictures taken with KS and That Guy and the statements that were released by both parties. Other than that, not much else has been very concrete. Enter the omnipresent “sources” who seem to know every-fucking-thing. These sources have been everywhere! So many that now even sites and publications that I thought were reputable (I’m looking at you, Gossip Cop and People), have started rehashing this situation every single day with more information from “sources.”

Besides these “sources”, there have been other little gems thrown in there for good measure: (1)the U-haul truck incident – paps were willing to go so far as to park a truck in the driveway to make a story; and (2) the plethora of “sightings” that have come out, most of which have been shown to be completely fabricated. Imagine that! People making shit up on twitter and gossip sites for attention? No, that couldn’t possibly be true! The pop media would never, ever make things up to get attention. Oh, wait…

Let me ask you this: did you necessarily believe all those “sources” and “sightings” prior to what happened? Did they seem less plausible then than they do now? Unfortunately, it has become open season on two people who are hurting: RP and KS. That, to me, makes a lot of the crap being spewed by media and attention-seekers less plausible. Far be it from the media to let this die down so that the people who are hurting actually have a chance to heal.

What does this all come down to? The fact that we, the media, and those who aren’t RP and KS, don’t actually know what is going on. I think we know a very, very small percentage of the situation, and the unbelievable amount of misinformation being given to us by the media (and sometimes, each other) is just creating layers upon layers of confusion.

While the media is saturating us with the alleged whispers from numerous sources, there has been another aspect to this situation which has, quite frankly, pissed me off: the sole condemnation of KS. Last I checked there were two people in those pictures. She wasn’t the only person there; Ruperv Sand-douche (He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named, That Guy, Dickhead, Pervy Bastard, the Anonymous Tip to Us Weekly, Oh Obsessed One, etc.) was also present. Where are the articles condemning him for what he did? Yes, what she did was wrong, but what about him? Here is a man who is almost twice her age, someone she formed a creative and professional relationship with (that I think he abused), and someone who is married with children and should have known better. He is at fault in this situation too, yet I only have seen KS being raked over the coals. What …. an awesome guy – letting the 22-year-old woman take the heat as he walks around with his wedding band and a smirk on his face. Where are the over-abundance of magazine covers and gossip blog stories with pictures of him and his wife? The multitude of “sources” who are crawling out of the woodwork (or sewers, take your pick) about what they are doing? If the media outlets are going to be assholes about this situation, can’t they at least be equal-opportunity assholes?
