Kristen Stewart “Certain Women” Interview With Laura Dern On ‘Today’ Show – WATCH
Kristen Stewart joined Laura Dern for an interview about their new movie Certain Women on Wednesday’s “Today” show. Watch below!
As Gossip Cop has reported, Certain Women tells three female-focused stories, two of which feature Stewart and Dern. Both play lawyers, with Stewart’s character unexpectedly bonding with a student and Dern’s struggling with a client. The co-stars sat down with Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford to discuss the film.
Dern credited director Kelly Reichardt for her decision to sign on to the project, and Stewart praised the filmmaker for adapting the short story collection on which the movie is based. “I actually wasn’t familiar with those stories. They aren’t quite different. I think they definitely retain the spirit, but Kelly made them very much her own,” she said.
“It’s about three women that you wouldn’t necessarily draw an immediate connection between… but there’s a sort of, I don’t know, like a spiritual through-line,” Stewart continued. “It’s easy to say it’s a movie about strong women, but I think it’s more really about the unresolved, and the sort of like receding that can happen in order to protect yourself.”
Dern added, “I think there’s a subliminal theme,” and the actress went on to draw a connection to the current “political climate.” There was also a surprising comment about a “foot fetish.” As Gossip Cop reported, Stewart also had a “Today” interview with Kotb air earlier this week.
