As Gossip Cop reported, it was announced in early August that Certain Women would screen at the event, along with Personal Shopper, another new Stewart film. A few weeks later, it was revealed Stewart would be honored at NYFF during “An Evening With…” And a third film featuring the actress, Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, was also added to the lineup.
Stewart kicked off her time at the festival with a Certain Women press conference. The movie star discussed the quietness of the film’s plot, which tells the story of three women in Montana. “People go, ‘What’s the most important part? Show me the point where something happens.’ That’s what we’re used to seeing in movies,” Stewart said.
She continued, “But if you can look at the stuff that goes on in between, like getting to and fro, that’s when things start living. It’s really vulnerable to not be expected to play something. All of sudden, you start revealing things instead of displaying them.”
For both the Q&A and the premiere, Stewart opted to wear a burgundy suit by Sandro Paris. Daringly not wearing a shirt underneath, she kept the jacket open, and had a necklace plunging down. Check out the pictures below!
