Kristen Stewart Talks ‘Twilight’ “Baggage,” Offers ‘Star Wars’ Star Daisy Ridley Advice
The actress participated in The Hollywood Reporter’s “Awards Chatter” podcast as she’s been getting buzz for The Clouds Of Sils Maria. As Gossip Cop reported, in February Stewart won a Cesar Award for her role in the film as a celebrity assistant. The honor is the French version of an Oscar, and she was the first American actress to ever win the award.
And after being named Best Supporting Actress by the New York Film Critics Circle (and others) earlier this month, some think she has a chance at scoring a coveted Academy Award nomination. In the new podcast, Stewart reflects on her career and what’s led her to this point. Twilight, of course, is a huge part of that, both for better and worse.
“I did Twilight when I was 17, it came out when I was 18, and my life was never even remotely the same,” says the star, later discussing the “huge lifestyle shift” that came with the mega-successful franchise. Looking back, Stewart says she would still do the experience again because she has no regrets, acknowledging, “A whole lot of other baggage — really heavy and also really cool baggage — came along with it.”
And while Star Wars and Twilight aren’t exactly in the same genre, Stewart knows a thing or two about what may be in store for The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley. “It’s the small things, really. Focus on the fact that you’re stoked, ’cause you’re doing the work that you want to do,” Stewart advises.
She adds, “It’s literally mainly just like about focusing on what makes you happy. And if losing your anonymity or whatever doesn’t make you happy, then focus on something else.” TELL US: What do you think of Stewart’s advice to Ridley?
