Kirstie Alley Defends Tom Cruise and Scientology (VIDEO)

Kirstie Alley is defending Tom Cruise and Scientology in the wake of Vanity Fair’s recent cover story examining the alleged origins of Cruise’s marriage to Katie Holmes.

“I think whenever you have articles written that are third and fourth parties’ opinions, it’s like the game Gossip and you don’t get the truth,” Alley tells ET.

She adds, “I think that a magazine of that caliber should have interviewed him, and then they would get the truth.”

As for Scientology itself, to which Alley also adheres, the actress says, “I think that probably all religions probably sound bizarre to people who are not the practitioners of them.”

Asked if Scientologists’ outspoken nature is the reason for misconceptions, Alley replies, “I have no idea. I honestly have no idea. To me, it’s so normal. Probably 90 percent of the crazy stuff I hear isn’t true.”

    I don’t believe in Scientology, in fact I believe it is nothing more than fiction.

    I don’t believe in Scientology but I do agree that almost all religions have strange practices.I mean Catholics don’t believe in contraception or homosexuality,Jewish religion believes in circumcision, Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t believe in life saving blood transfusions and Islamic religion thinks that women should be covered up. You name the religion, to an outsider there will always be things that seem like strange idea’s or beliefs. So Scientology really isn’t all that different from any other religion.

    I love Kirstie Alley. However she is wrong about one thing…..it would have been nice if the magazine had interviewed Tom…..but they would then have the truth? Definitely not. Tom is the last person who would ever tell the truth about Scientology…..especially to the public. He would be crucified. Kirstie usually flies under the radar about her Scientology ties and it would be much better for her if she continued to do so.
