Kim Zolciak Forced To Withdraw From ‘Dancing With The Stars’ (VIDEO)
Kim Zolciak was forced to withdraw from “Dancing With The Stars,” based on the show’s rules about automatically being eliminated if one cannot compete because of illness, injury or another reason. And since Zolciak didn’t make it to Los Angeles on Monday to dance with her partner Tony Dovolani to the theme of “I Dream Of Jeannie” on the show’s “TV Night,” she was cut from the competition. Watch the announcement below.
As Gossip Cop reported, Zolciak suffered a mini stroke on Wednesday shortly after she arrived in Atlanta from rehearsing hours before in Los Angeles. She was hospitalized for a couple of days after she loss sensation on the left side of her body, as well as her ability to speak. Fortunately, Zolciak quickly recovered, and while she noted in a statement on Sunday, “I love dancing and… hope this will not be the end of dancing” on the ABC show, her doctors would not allow her to fly back to Los Angeles in a pressurized plane.
Appearing via Skype from Atlanta on Monday’s “Dancing With The Stars,” Zolciak revealed she had a blood clot that led to her stroke. And though she noted how much she wanted to compete because she now feels “great,” the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star added, “My health comes first.”
Zolciak said her doctors would allow her to fly back to Los Angeles next week, but host Tom Bergeron said the rules state that anyone who’s not onstage for their routine “must withdraw.” Dovolani said he would like to appeal that decision, but Bergeron noted the producers spoke to the show’s lawyers and “the rules are the rules.”
While it was bad news for Zolciak, it was good news for Andy Grammer and Paula Deen, who were in the bottom two of the standings and were in danger of being eliminated.
