Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Taylor Swift And More Stars Make 2015 Time 100 “Most Influential People” — SEE LIST!
The annual list celebrates “the titans, pioneers, artists, icons and leaders who are shaping the future.” This year’s celebrity honorees also include Reese Witherspoon, Emma Watson, Chris Pratt, Julianne Moore, Tim McGraw, Julianna Margulies, John Oliver, Amy Schumer, Laverne Cox, Audra McDonald, Bjork, Diane von Furstenberg, Lorne Michaels, Christopher Nolan, Lee Daniels, Richard Linklater, and Alexander Wang, along with public figures such as President Obama, Hillary Clinton, Pope Francis, Malala Yousafzai, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The special edition includes five different covers, with West, Cooper, Ginsburg, dancer Misty Copeland and Jorge Ramos of Univision each scoring their own.
As per tradition, the tributes are each written by an admirer, such as Taylor Swift penning a profile for one of her idols, Ina Garten. Swift, however, is also honored, as one of the “icons” on the list. Mariska Hargitay says of the superstar, “Along with her staggering list of accomplishments, perhaps the most exciting thing about Taylor is that she’s just getting started with what she plans to mine from her fierce, curious, boundlessly talented and beautiful heart. Also, it doesn’t hurt that she named her cat after me.”
Kardashian, “the first lady of #fame,” is grouped in the “titans” category, and feted by Martha Stewart, who writes, “Beautiful in an exotic, totally exaggerated way, Kim exudes energy, sexuality, drama, determination, impetuousness and happiness. But she and her famous, entrepreneurial siblings — shepherded by a savvy, tireless matriarch — have also expanded the very definition of family.”
West is deemed a “boundary breaker” and also one of the “titans.” Elon Musk notes, “Kanye West would be the first person to tell you he belongs on this list. The dude doesn’t believe in false modesty, and he shouldn’t. Kanye’s belief in himself and his incredible tenacity — he performed his first single with his jaw wired shut — got him to where he is today.”
