Kim Kardashian: My Dress Caught On Fire At CFDA Awards — And Pharrell Put It Out!
Kim Kardashian had quite the night at the CFDA Awards, but it nearly went down in flames!
As Gossip Cop reported, Kardashian attended the annual fashion event in New York City with husband Kanye West, and candidly spoke to the media about her pregnancy and Caitlyn Jenner’s transition. Kardashian, who said the evening was “date night,” was on hand to present the CFDA Media Award to Instagram’s CEO and co-founder, Kevin Systrom. On the red carpet, the reality star posed in a custom Proenza Schouler dress that was sheer, revealing her underwear. Parts of the outfit had holes, and others were adorned with feathers.
Those feathers, though, nearly caused Kardashian’s downfall. On Monday morning, she tweeted, “S/o to Pharrell & Helen! After the awards the feathers of my dress caught on fire & they jumped on me to get it out.” To illustrate, Kardashian appropriately included a fire emoji, and picture of herself and West posting with Pharrell and his wife Helen Lasichanh (see above).
West actually paid tribute to Pharrell during the ceremony, introducing his fellow musician and fashion maven as this year’s Fashion Icon Award recipient. “What’s up, CFDA? You know how Obama brought out the angry version of himself? I’m sort of like the angrier version of Pharrell,” the rapper told the star-studded audience.
The performer went on to say the fashion world is the “hardest high-school that I ever entered,” but praised Pharrell for his guidance. “At least I had a big brother — a junior, a senior that was there when I was a freshman, that had already worn the tight jeans and went to the fashion shows and had been called too hip-hop to be at the fashion show, and then got called too fashion to be in the hip-hop video,” explained West. “And when we got early cyberbullied, he’d be there, right there, in Paris, to talk me through and keep me going.”
West added, “Pharrell has always been my style idol, and there would be no me, no A$AP, without Pharrell being the nicer version of Obama.” But with the fire mishap that could’ve been the Kardashian empire’s undoing, now it seems West has yet another reason to be grateful for his pal.
