Kim Kardashian: “I Was Crying” When Kanye West Threw Out My Clothes
The pre-taped episode featured Kardashian as guest to promote her new book, Selfish, but the reality star also spoke about West’s influence on her style. As Gossip Cop has reported, the rapper re-did Kardashian’s closet early on in their relationship, and the wardrobe makeover was captured for “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” But now she revealed just how the traumatic the experience was.
Kardashian said West and his team “put everything that he thought wasn’t ‘cool enough’ in a pile, and I walked in and it was like a pile to the ceiling of shoes.” She recalled, “All my amazing shoes that I loved, and I started crying. I was like, ‘I can’t get rid of this stuff, your stylist has no idea what she’s talking about.’ So I put it all in another room, and I was like, ‘I’ll trust your opinion, but I’m not getting rid of my stuff. Let me see what you’re really talking about.’”
“Then I walk into my room, and there’s an entire room filled with all new clothes. All the stuff he wanted to fill back up my closet with. It was, like, really cool new designer stuff. I hadn’t even heard of some of these designers before,” remembered Kardashian, explaining, “It really helped me fall in love with fashion. I eventually did get rid of most of that stuff, and my style has evolved and changed. But I couldn’t see it at that time.”
But that doesn’t mean West has full control or total veto power now. In fact, before she filmed “Live,” the performer tried to change up his wife’s look to mixed results. “I had on this white Balmain pantsuit [this morning]. He was like, ‘No, no, no, I think you just be a little bit more simple today,’ and totally changed my outfit right before I was walking out,” Kardashian told the impressed hosts. (Strahan even joked at one point, “I mean, I’m sitting here thinking to myself, I need to marry Kanye!”)
Kardashian continued, “And he was right. I wasn’t thinking about that I was going to be sitting and it was a little, you know, too revealing. I really do trust his opinion.” She added, though, “Then he was like, Oh, I love your hair down! And I was like, No, no, no. Ponytail. You don’t get that much — you get one thing, outfit or glam!” The outfit, seen in the photo above, won out. See video of the 2012 “KUWTK” closet makeover below, and tell us what you think.
