Kim Cattrall NOT Starring On ‘Sex And The City’ Spinoff, Despite Reports
Kim Cattrall is NOT starring on a “Sex and the City” spinoff about her character Samantha Jones, despite many outlets wrongly spreading that rumor. Gossip Cop can clear up the situation. We’re told it’s not true.
On her talk show earlier this week, Wendy Williams discussed the possibility of Cattrall reprising her character for a new HBO series. Only, the host was referring to false tabloid story by Star that Gossip Cop had already debunked. Cattrall herself then further fueled rumors of a spinoff by retweeting a video of Williams’s segment and adding the caption, “I’m so unbelievably flattered & moved. Can’t WAIT 2 get back 2 the serious business of making u all laugh! Fingers x’d.” That prompted E! and other outlets to incorrectly assume a spinoff is actually happening.
Unfortunately, while Cattrall might be game for a Samantha Jones TV series, and while many fans would love to see a “Sex and the City” follow-up, there simply aren’t any plans for one. Gossip Cop is told by reliable insiders at HBO that there’s no spinoff project in the works, and we’re also assured by sources close to Cattrall that she’s not in talks for any such series. In other news, HBO is in the very early stages of developing a “Game of Thrones” prequel, but those holding out hope for a “Sex and the City” spinoff show should curb their enthusiasm.
