Kida, Tate “So You Think You Can Dance” Video: Watch Hip-Hop And Jazz Dances!
Kida and Tate McRae wowed with both of their duet routines on Monday’s “So You Think You Can Dance.” Check out the videos below!
“The Next Generation” entered its second week of live shows with a new twist. Last time, the Top 10 each performed with their respective All-Star partners. But on the new episode, the young contestants were paired up with each other for two rounds of duets.
During the first half of the show, 14-year-old Kida (hip-hop) and 13-year-old Tate (contemporary/ballet) won raves for their hip-hop dance, which featured some amazingly synchronized moves. For the second half, they returned to the stage with a jazz routine. And they were two-for-two with impressing the judges.
Due to their neon outfits, Maddie Ziegler first joked that they looked like highlighters (see photo above). But more seriously, she told Kida and Tate, “I actually love the way you guys dance together… You guys are completely different dancers, but somehow you make it look amazing.”
Twitch, who was sitting in for Jason Derulo, pointed out that “both have equally shined tonight.” Nigel Lythgoe also noted, “I don’t know many hip-hop dancers who could have done that routine as good as Kida just did.” He also called Tate’s final position “ridiculous” (in a good way), and gushed, “The pair of you together tonight — superb.”
And Paula Abdul offered a number of adjectives, including, “Incredible.” Watch both dances below!
