Kida, Fik-Shun “So You Think You Can Dance” Video: Standing Ovation For Hip-Hop On 250th Episode
Kida received a standing ovation for choreographing an incredible hip-hop routine on “So You Think You Can Dance” during Monday’s 250th episode. Watch below!
The Top 5 of “The Next Generation” contestants all took the stage during the FOX competition’s milestone installment. First, each dancer and their All-Star performed a routine choreographed by one of the show’s usual choreographers. But in the second round of the night, the young aspiring stars had to choreograph their own dances for the very first time.
14-year-old Kida came up with a dance he called “Manipulator,” and it featured him bringing partner Fik-Shun to life as a robot, and showing him how to loosen up. The two were barely recognizable with their faces painted gold, but their killer moves and Kida’s creativity had the judges in awe. The teen even received a standing ovation from the entire panel, and was only the member of the Top 5 to do so.
“Man, are you kidding me right now?!” Jason Derulo exclaimed afterward. “This is the point where usually I would thank the choreographer, so thank you, Kida! That number right there, people are going to click over and over again.” He went on to tell Kida, “You are an amazing performer, everyone knows that. But you are a great choreographer in the making as well.”
Nigel Lythgoe praised, “This is the style I love you doing, but you added a lot of humor was well, and that’s really important… That fascinated everyone here.” Paula Abdul actually gave Kida a second ovation, before telling him, “You are a firecracker up there and it showed in your choreography tonight… I am so happy to see you in your element. Tonight, it’s like all about Kida!”
Maddie Ziegler called Kida’s choreography “insane,” and further said, “This is by far one of my favorite dances of the entire season.” Check out the full video below!
