Khloe Kardashian: I Was Told Lamar Odom Had “Four Hours” To Live (VIDEO)
“They told me that he had four hours. It’s a horrible call to get,” Kardashian said of first learning of the medical emergency. “Getting to the hospital and knowing he’s in a coma and having to run these tests and make medical decisions — it’s terrifying.”
She explained, “You have to make risk and reward decisions like ‘Okay, well, there’s an 80 percent chance we do this operation, he may pass away, but also if we don’t do it, there’s a 90 percent chance he’ll pass away.’ Like just having to make these executive decisions is really hard, I think, on anybody. So it was definitely probably one of the most emotionally stressful times ever my life.”
Once Odom awoke from the coma, Kardashian found it hard not to be excited. “They kept saying, ‘You’re so optimistic. And you’re so positive.’ They wanted to keep reminding me, like, ‘We’re nowhere in the clear,'” she recalled. “But I was, like, ‘You guys told me he was gonna die just a few hours — or a few days ago.'”
And what’s Odom’s prognosis now? “They think, like, within a year and a half to two years that, mentally, he might be fully recovered. But they don’t know,” revealed Kardashian. The reality star also again stressed that she and Odom are not back together romantically, despite calling off their divorce.
“I was expediting the divorce prior, and I’m still separated with him, but I’m just not expediting them anymore,” she shared. “There was no reason for it. And also, [it’s] in his will that I’m always the medical adviser. And it was just — he had no one else to make these decisions for him.”
Kardashian’s comments aired hours after she fired back at critics on Twitter, who slammed her for being involved in Odom’s situation while still dating James Harden. She responded by noting Odom had previously broken their marriage vows, and that their divorce was still going to happen, though she would continue to care for him.
