Khloe Kardashian: I’m Not “Trying To Be Black” By Eating Popeye’s
Khloe Kardashian is hitting back at seemingly racist commenters, who are suggesting that the reality start is “trying to be black” by eating Popeye’s chicken in a photo she posted to Instagram late Thursday. After sharing a picture of herself with Kris Jenner, Kylie Jenner and friends aboard a private jet chowing down on fried chicken from the fast-food chain, a number of Instagram commenters questioned whether Kardashian was angling to become black, prompting Kardashian to slam her critics for their ignorance.
In a series of tweets, Kardashian wrote, “Seeing some of the stories/comments in regards to my Instagram. How is any one ‘trying to be black’ because they are eating food?” She continued, “I wasn’t aware that food was limited to a certain skin color… I thought food was not specific to skin color but to humans in general.” Kardashian concluded, “‘To break bread together,’ a phrase as old as the Bible, captures the power of a meal to forge relationships, bury anger, provoke laughter.”
For all those who intimated that Kardashian was “trying to be black” by eating Popeye’s, there were many more who pointed out the absurdity of it. One commenter perfectly noted, “That’s it. Everyone stop eating Taco Bell. Y’all trying to be Mexican.” What do you think about the original comment about Kardashian eating fried chicken as well as her response?
