Kevin Spacey is denying reports that he was paid $8 million to take a picture with Mexican president Enrique Peña Nieto earlier this month. On May 7, the “House of Cards” star tweeted a photo with Nieto, writing “1 President is real. W/Pres Nieto in #Mexico. Good meeting a man also making progress in his 1st year in office” (see right).

This week, Forbes and other outlets began reporting a rumor that Spacey had taken a huge sum to appear with the politician. One outlet claimed Spacey had been paid a staggering $8 million for the selfie.

On Friday, the actor slammed the reports on Twitter. “Story about Mex Gov paying 8m or any amount for selfie not true!” wrote Spacey. “Was In Mex for Tourist Board event. Meeting President not planned at all.”
