Ke$ha’s mom says weight criticism from her own associates led the star to have suicidal thoughts. As Gossip Cop previously reported, the singer entered treatment for an eating disorder earlier this month, and reports have since surfaced alleging producer Dr. Luke and former manager David Sonenberg are partially responsible for the pop star’s issues.

“One time on a conference call, Sonenberg was screaming, ‘You need to lose weight! I don’t care what you do … take drugs, not eat, stick your finger down your throat!'” Ke$ha’s mother Pebe Sebert alleges to People. She continues, “Ke$ha was just weeping. She drove around afterward thinking about killing herself.”

Sebert further says Dr. Luke was “very disrespectful” when it came to the singer’s weight. “He’d say it in certain ways, like ‘Why don’t you try running?'” she claims. “She was doing everything and not getting thin fast enough, and that’s when she first became bulimic.”

Ke$ha’s issues worsened this past fall, with her health seriously deteriorating, says her mother. She tells the magazine, “The doctors told me her blood pressure and sodium levels were so low, they’d never seen it that low except with someone who’d had a heart attack or stroke. They said it was a miracle she hadn’t already dropped dead on stage.”

“I’ve watched my beautiful, self-confident, brilliant daughter be berated and ridiculed for her looks and weight to the point that she almost died,” says Sebert. She has since checked into the same rehab where Ke$ha is residing, for help managing stress from the family’s crisis.

As for Sonenberg and Dr. Luke, both have denied playing a role in Ke$ha’s struggles, and the Grammy-nominated producer recently released a statement slamming Sebert for her comments.

“It is unfortunate that at a time Ke$ha is suffering immensely and trying to heal at a treatment center, her mother is taking this approach with the media,” he said. “I give Ke$ha my utmost support and well wishes for a quick return to health.”
