Kesha Fans Protest Outside Sony Building In New York City
As Gossip Cop reported last Friday, a New York judge denied Kesha’s motion to get out of her contract with Dr. Luke’s label at Sony, despite her claim the music producer sexually abused her. Dr. Luke has refuted the allegations, saying that the singer is lying to get out of her record deal.
A #FreeKesha movement has been growing both on social media, and now outside of Sony’s New York City headquarters. Several protesters, as Gossip Cop is writing this, are chanting and holding signs imploring the company to let Kesha out of her contract. Additionally, “Drop Luke To Free Kesha” became a trending Twitter topic on Friday.
Sony’s lawyers, however, released a statement earlier this week explaining that the company doesn’t have the legal authority to terminate Kesha’s contract with Dr. Luke. For her part, Kesha posted a lengthy Facebook post earlier this week saying she would “be willing to work with Sony if they do the right thing and break all ties that bind me to my abuser.” Gossip Cop will continue have updates.
