Kelly Rowland Confronted By Anti-Fur Protesters At Book Signing (VIDEO)
Kelly Rowland was confronted by anti-fur protesters at a book signing on Wednesday. Watch the video below.
As Gossip Cop recently reported, Rowland is currently promoting her first book, Whoa, Baby!. Co-written with her OB-GYN, the book is a guide to first-time motherhood. Earlier this week, Rowland appeared on “The View,” where she discussed both the book and her “mommy circle” with best friend Beyonce.
As part of her promotional tour, Rowland is also doing book signings across the country, and held an event on Wednesday night in New Jersey. Like most book signings, the singer was autographing copies and posing for photos. At one point, however, a group of fans who approached her turned out not to be admirers at all, but animal activists.
Footage shows Rowland standing for what she thought was going to be a group photo when one man unrolled a poster, exclaiming, “This goes out to all the animals that were tortured and murdered so Kelly can wear their fur.” The protesters began chanting, “Kelly Rowland has blood on her hands.” The Destiny’s Child performer remained perfectly calm, at first. But as the interruption continued, she walked over to an associate, and could be heard saying, “Get them out of here.”
The group was then escorted out of the area. Still, they continued to yell and hold up signs saying, “Kelly Rowland Animal Abuser.” It’s unclear if the signing resumed after the incident, as the clip cuts off with her ducking into a back room.
Rowland, who has been photographed wearing fur in the past, has not mentioned the ordeal on social media. As Gossip Cop has reported, other celebrities have found themselves in similar situations. In 2015, anti-fur protesters swarmed Kim Kardashian at a book signing for Selfish. A few days later, activists were kicked out of another Kardashian signing before they could confront her.
