Kelly Ripa NOT Refusing To Go Back On ‘Live’ Until Michael Strahan Leaves, Despite Report
Kelly Ripa is NOT refusing to return to “Live” until Michael Strahan leaves for “Good Morning America,” despite an inaccurate tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this story. We’re told it’s “not true.”
As Gossip Cop reported, ABC announced on Tuesday that Strahan will be leaving “Live,” which he’s co-hosted with Ripa for nearly four years, to join “Good Morning America” as a full time anchor. Ripa, who was not informed of the surprising news before it was made public, was mysteriously absent from Wednesday’s “Live.” Ana Gasteyer instead filled in for the TV personality, who’s reportedly upset and angry over being blindsided and kept in the dark about Strahan’s departure.
And now according to the Daily Mail, Ripa won’t just be sitting out of Wednesday’s show, but every single show until Strahan’s exit, which is expected to be sometime this summer. A so-called “source” tells the tabloid, “She wants to wait and see what happens. She’d also like someone to do the right thing and speak to her face-to-face rather than plot and plan behind her back.”
But Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who exclusively tells us Ripa hasn’t refused to come back onto the show until Strahan is gone. While it’s true the co-host isn’t entirely thrilled with how the situation was handled, she certainly isn’t entirely boycotting her own talk show. After some time off, she will return. We’re told the tabloid’s claim about a complete refusal to come back until Strahan is gone is simply “not true.”
