Kelly Ripa NOT Quitting Live Unless Anderson Cooper Becomes New Co-Host, Despite Report
Kelly Ripa is NOT threatening to quit “Live” unless Anderson Cooper replaces Michael Strahan as her new co-host, despite an inaccurate tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this claim. We’re told it’s “not true.”
According to Us Weekly, Ripa is “talking about leaving” her talk show after being blindsided with the last-minute news Strahan is quitting as co-host to join “Good Morning America.” Both Cooper and Andy Cohen have been considered as possible replacements for the former NFL star, but a dubious source tells the tabloid they’re the only two people whom Ripa will approve as a new co-anchor.
The magazine’s “insider” claims, “Unless one of them can come on, she doesn’t really want to do it.” But Cohen, who produces the “Real Housewives” shows and already hosts his own TV and radio talk shows, has already noted he has way too much on his plate. As Cooper is covering the upcoming election and may also be too busy to join “Live” as a full-time host.
Although Ripa is a big fan of both Cooper and Cohen, she isn’t giving the network an ultimatum that she’ll quit if one of them doesn’t join the show. Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who exclusively tells us the tabloid’s claim is simply “not true.”
