Kelly Ripa is NOT urging her celebrity friends to “boycott” Michael Strahan when he joins “GMA,” despite a report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct the story.

According to the new issue of Star, Ripa is “out for blood” after being blindsided with the news that Strahan is leaving “Live with Kelly and Michael” to join “Good Morning America.” The magazine claims it’s now “open combat,” and Ripa “wants revenge.” How so?

“Kelly’s next move will be to strong-arm celebrities into snubbing ‘GMA,'” claims the outlet. A so-called “source” is quoted as saying, “Kelly is a powerful woman with a lot of connections. Nobody would be surprised if she told her A-list friends to boycott his show or else they won’t be welcome on hers.”

The supposed snitch goes on, “Kelly’s goal is cause ‘GMA’ to drop in the ratings while boosting them for ‘Live.’ The alleged tipster adds, “The gloves are off! Kelly no longer cares about acting professionally when it comes to Michael.” And now, says the tabloid, she “has every intention of destroying the former football player’s TV career.”

But while there’s no denying Ripa and Strahan’s on-air chemistry has changed and there’s been some awkward, pointed exchanges, she has absolutely no plans to make her famous pals “boycott” “GMA.” In fact, it would be counter-intuitive. As the “Live” lead-in, it’s important for “GMA” to have strong appeal and strong ratings to carry over into the talk show. For Ripa to try to hurt the news program would likely only end up hurting herself.

While Star may not be smart enough to know that, Ripa does. And when Gossip Cop checked in with her camp regarding the magazine’s “boycott” claims, we were exclusively assured they are patently untrue.
