Kelly Ripa Ripped By ESPN Host For Missing “Live” Over Michael Strahan Drama
As Gossip Cop reported, Strahan blindsided Ripa on Tuesday with the news that he’ll be leaving their show to join “Good Morning America” full-time this fall. A shocked Ripa was a no-show for this morning’s “Live” broadcast, with Anna Gasteyer sitting in her place. It’s since been reported that the hurt and angered TV personality might not return at all this week.
Now Stugotz, of ESPN Radio’s “The Dan Le Batard Show,” is slamming Ripa for going MIA. Shortly after she skipped “Kelly and Michael,” he said on-air, “She is so upset that she was not made aware of the news that Strahan was leaving before it was made available to the public, the mainstream media. She is so upset about that, and the fact that Strahan is leaving after four years, that she didn’t show up to work today.”
He then ranted, “She makes $20 million a year. $36,000 per episode for one hour of work — [which] when you include commercials is about 40 minutes. Kelly Ripa is so upset about Strahan she can’t show up to a job that pays her $36,000 an hour. I mean this guy, really?”
Strahan, of course, is a former NFL player, so it’s no surprise that he’s still fodder for sports radio. But more interestingly, ESPN and ABC are both owned by Disney. So far, Stugotz is sticking by his remarks, even going as far as retweeting The Wrap, which described him as “bashing” Ripa. Gossip Cop will continue to have updates on the unfolding situation.
