Kelly Ripa Doesn’t Want New ‘Live’ Co-Host?
Kelly Ripa is NOT trying to prevent ABC from hiring a new “Live” co-host, despite a made-up tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this claim. We’re told it’s “false.”
Michael Strahan left the morning talk show back in May to become an anchor on “Good Morning America,” but “Live” producers have yet to find his full-time replacement. In the meantime, various celebrities have been filling the chair as guest hosts. A so-called “source” now tells the National Enquirer that the reason a new co-host hasn’t been chosen is because Ripa supposedly “likes the show being all about her and is pushing the bosses to keep it that way.”
The outlet’s dubious insider adds, “She wants a bunch of rotating hosts around her and the title to be ‘Live with Kelly and Friends.’ The ratings are great right now, and she is enjoying being the boss. Why fix something that isn’t broken?” Gossip Cop, however, checked in with a rep for Ripa, who exclusively assures us the magazine’s story is simply “false.”
We’re told the network is still in the process of finding a suitable replacement for Strahan, and Ripa is helping to search for someone to permanently fill the co-host position. Gossip Cop previously busted the Enquirer’s sister publication, Star, for its cover story wrongly alleging Ripa was the “queen of mean.” This latest report about the talk show host is equally inaccurate.
