A convoluted webloid report alleges that Kelly Ripa feels “betrayed” by ABC and new “Live” co-host Ryan Seacrest because an “American Idol” reboot is in the works. Gossip Cop, however, can set the record straight.

News emerged last week that ABC is nearing a deal to buy the rights to revive “American Idol.” RadarOnline is now alleging that ABC executives only hired Seacrest to co-host “Live” as part of a “bigger plot” to have him return to host their revamped version of “American Idol.”

A so-called “source” tells the site that Ripa “has been betrayed all over again” following the situation with former co-host Michael Strahan, because she’s now discovered that Seacrest joining her show “is all about ‘Idol’ and not really just about her!” The outlet’s dubious insider adds, “She seems livid. Ryan knew all along what was going on, but once again, everyone kept her in the dark.”

But despite this far-fetched conspiracy theory, Seacrest wasn’t hired to co-host “Live” as a duplicitous ploy to sign him on for an “American Idol” reboot. Regardless, Ripa is ecstatic about the possibility of ABC reviving the reality competition series. On Monday’s episode of “Live,” she actually urged Seacrest to host the “American Idol” reboot in addition to their morning show. “Please tell me yes,” she pressed him. Her new co-host then explained he really “had no idea” a reboot was in the works until reading about it in the news last week.

Seacrest went on to note that he wasn’t sure he’d have the time to host “American Idol” again, but Ripa wouldn’t take no for an answer. “Yes you can, you can!” she exclaimed. “I know that you’re busy in the mornings, I get it. I understand it’s hard doing double duty… But your nights are free, you don’t have that much to do. You can do this!” Ripa even went on to say she’d “start a prayer circle” for Seacrest’s return. Clearly, no one has been “betrayed.”

As Gossip Cop reported, RadarOnline is the same unreliable website that wrongly reported Ripa was against hiring Seacrest as her new “Live” co-host. Only, a trustworthy source close to Ripa told Gossip Cop she was “overjoyed” he accepted the offer. The morning show host will be similarly delighted if Seacrest returns to “American Idol.” Watch the video below.
