Kelly Ripa celebrated her 15th anniversary as the co-host of “Live!” on Friday, and gave an emotional speech thanking her family, friends and especially the audience for supporting her over the past 15 years. Watch the heartfelt video below!
At the end of the daytime talk show on Friday, Ripa was handed a golden Tinker Bell statue and became very choked up while conveying her gratitude. “It is beyond my vocabulary to express to everybody here, family and friends, and the staff who feels like family and friends, what this means to me,” Ripa said while fighting back tears. “15 years really flew by. I know I joke about it all the time like, ‘It’s a life sentence!’ but it has flown by. And I know without a doubt that without the audience… I am truly nothing without you.”
Ripa further expressed her appreciation for her fans, saying, “I owe all of the good fortune I’ve had in my life, with my husband, with my children, it’s all because you have been so supportive and so accepting of me into your homes every day.” The talk show host concluded, “It’s an honor that I don’t take for granted even for a second.”
Ripa’s co-host Michael Strahan then brought out a ridiculously giant bouquet of flowers, and explained, “We have to go big for your 15th! We’ve all been so lucky to have you here on this show.” Ripa started on the show in 2001, beating out many other names to become Regis Philbin’s permanent co-host after Kathie Lee Gifford left.
