Kelly Osbourne: I Might Quit Fashion Police Over Racist Giuliana Rancic Zendaya Joke
Kelly Osbourne is threatening to quit “Fashion Police” in the wake of co-host Giuliana Rancic’s controversial comment about Zendaya during the show’s Oscars recap on Monday. As Gossip Cop reported, Rancic raised eyebrows by saying the dreadlocked Zendaya’s hair probably “smells like patchouli oil or weed.”
Zendaya fired back with a long Twitter response calling Rancic’s remarks “outrageously offensive” and a shocking example of “slurs and pure disrespect” for her heritage. She defended her dreadlocks as a “symbol of strength and beauty.” Zendaya was celebrated for her response, and Rancic was widely slammed. She later apologized, claiming she was “referring to a bohemian chic look” and that her comment had “NOTHING to do with race.”
As the situation exploded, Osbourne tweeted, “I WILL NOT BE DRAGED (sic) INTO THIS! The situation is being rectified like ADULTS by both parties. I hope you can leave it to them & do the same!” She added, “You guys do realize that @Zendaya is my friend right?” Apparently, some online observers mistakenly attributed Rancic’s comment about weed to Osbourne.
On Tuesday, Osbourne took a harder stance: “Im giving everyone involved 24 hours to make it right or the world will hear how I really feel. contactually Im not allowed to speak!” Then she declared, “I DID NOT MAKE THE WEED COMENT. I DO NOT CONDONE RACISM SO AS A RSULT OF THIS IM SEREIOULSY QUESTIONONIG (sic) STAYING ON THE SHOW!” Wow. Gossip Cop will have updates. Stay tuned.
