Kelly Osbourne: “I Take Responsibility For My Poor Choice Of Words,” But I’m NOT A “Racist” — SEE STATEMENT!
Kelly Osbourne took to Facebook on Tuesday afternoon to clarify remarks she made about Donald Trump and Latinos on “The View” earlier in the day.
As Gossip Cop reported earlier, Osbourne was a guest co-host sitting in for Nicolle Wallace, and Trump’s controversial campaign for president was one of the episode’s many topics. Referring to his stance on immigration and the inflammatory remarks Trump has made about Mexicans, Osbourne asked, “If you kick every Latino out of this country, then who is going to be cleaning your toilet Donald Trump?”
Osbourne seemed to be trying to point out that Trump takes advantage of the same people he’s been denigrating, but it came off as a degrading characterization of Latinos. Raven-Symone immediately objected to the comment, as did Rosie Perez, who shot back, “Latinos are not the only people doing that.” Osbourne tried to correct herself, and new co-host Michelle Collins attempted to defend her, saying, “I think what you’re saying is that Trump himself probably relies on a lot of these people that he’s insulting.”
But the damage was done, and Osbourne quickly became a trending topic on Twitter in both the United States and worldwide. Los Angeles Dodgers player Enrique Hernandez even tweeted, “Heading to the stadium early so that I can clean the toilets in the clubhouse! Right? @KellyOsbourne.” Now Osbourne has posted a statement about her remark.
“I want to start by saying I ALWAYS take responsibility for my actions. In this particular case I will take responsibility for my poor choice of words but I will not apologize for being a racist as I am NOT,” said Osbourne. Still, she acknowledged, “I whole-hearted f*cked up today. I don’t want to bullshit anyone with lame excuses.”
Osbourne continued, “Although, I was stopped mid-sentence by Rosie and couldn’t finish my point I will not let Rosie take responsibility for my words. I should have known better as I was on ‘The View ‘and it was live. I’ve learned a very valuable lesson.”
“It is my hope that this situation will open up a conversation about immigration and the Latin community as a whole,” she went on, adding, “By the way I clean my own f*cking toilets.” For her part, Perez tweeted after the live broadcast, “My apologies @KellyOsbourne, I took your point wrong-#Trump #Latinos. My bad. You’re heart is so pure & righteous. I adore you. @TheView.” TELL US: What do you think of the controversy?
