WATCH: Kelly Clarkson, Jordan Meredith Duets Performance Has Surprising Result

Kelly Clarkson performed her hit single “Stronger” on the series premiere of “Duets” on Thursday, but had some unique help.

As required by the show’s premise, the former “American Idol” winner was accompanied by one of the contestants, Jordan Meredith.

The two did a powerful rendition that led rival coach Robin Thicke to stand up and cheer through the performance.

Surprisingly, the other coaches Jennifer Nettles and John Legend, didn’t seem to enjoy the performance as much, rating the duo so poorly that Jordan ranked the second-worst of the night, only ahead of Clarkson’s other duet with Jason Farol.

    I love the idea of the show, but the voting is STUPID. The judges are competing against each other and voting for each other at the same time. Kelly performers were in the bottom 2, leaving me to think that John Legend and Nettles voted super low for Kelly. If I were Kelly, knowing she is a nice person, I’d go all kinds of mean, and start giving everyone “1′s” across the board. Those other 2 judges are being petty and not playing fair.

    I only caught parts of the show, but when I heard the judges giving their comments, there was all praise and no constructive critism for lower scores. What’s the point? I’m not quite sure I understand this show at this point.

    I wasn’t sure I was going to like the performance because Jordan didn’t seem to look like a person who should sing with Kelly, yes I was stereo typing, but when I heard them sing together I was really blown away. Jordan was amazing! That might have been something that may have hindered her, just like on “The voice”, it should be about what you hear not how that person looks.

    A contest can only be somewhat fair if the scores are coming from the same judges throughout the night.If Kelly gives mostly 80′s and 90′s and John mostly gives 40′s and 50′s then when Kelly’s score is eliminated her contestants average score will be much lower than John’s contestant. They need to be able to include their own scores too to get any fairness in the contest. Or get a panel of judges that are independent of the duet artists.
