Kelly Clarkson Dr. Luke Interview: Producer Is “Demeaning” And “Just Not A Good Guy” – LISTEN
Clarkson made the comments in an interview with “The Kyle and Jackie O Show” on Australia’s KIIS 106.5. The superstar worked with Dr. Luke on some of her biggest hits, including “Since U Been Gone.” She was now asked to comment on the producer in the wake of his ongoing legal battle with Kesha, who has accused him of sexual assault.
“He’s not a good person to me. We’ve clashed,” Clarkson said. The singer stressed that she can’t comment “specifically” on Kesha’s allegations against Dr. Luke, but said, “I can remark on his character. Unfortunately when you have that poor of [a] character, so many artists don’t like working with you. That’s not normal.”
Calling Dr. Luke “just not a good guy for me,” Clarkson went on to say, “Obviously, he’s a talented dude. He just lied a lot. Just his character — I mean, I’ve run into a couple of really bad situations. Musically, it’s been really hard for me because he will just lie to people. It’s like, ‘What?!’ And it makes the artist look bad.”
“He’s kind of difficult to work with, kind of demeaning. It’s unfortunate,” Clarkson continued. She further recalled one incident, saying, “Even the last time I worked with him, I only worked with him because literally I got blackmailed by my label. They were like, ‘We will not put your album out if you don’t do this.’ It was a really hard time for me.”
Clarkson made clear, though, that nothing ever inappropriately sexual took place. She previously hinted to her issues with Dr. Luke last month, when she tweeted, “Trying 2 not say anything since I can’t say anything nice about a person… so this is me not talking about Dr. Luke.”
