Kelly Clarkson “At Last” American Idol Video: Watch Superstar’s Big Return!
Kelly Clarkson had a huge homecoming on Wednesday’s “American Idol,” performing “At Last,” the very same song she sang during her audition for the show more than 10 years ago. Watch below!
Clarkson, of course, was the very first “American Idol” wiinner, earning the title back in 2002. She wowed Paul Abdul, Randy Jackson, and Simon Cowell with the Etta James classic “At Last” in her first audition, and went on to beat Justin Guarini to become the inaugural champion. While Clarkson has returned to the series several times over the years, this was the first time the show had an official Kelly Clarkson Night.
All the contestants sang Clarkson’s songs after special mentoring sessions from the superstar, and she took the stage herself for two live performances. Clarkson first sang her single “Heartbeat Song,” and then later appeared again for a trip down memory lane before singing “At Last.”
Not surprisingly, Clarkson killed it with emotion packed into every note. And she was as humble as ever, convinced she wasn’t on key because her ear monitors didn’t work. More adorably, judge Harry Connick Jr. had a total fangirl moment when he got to meet Clarkson for the first time afterward.
Check out the videos of both performances below! Would Clarkson get your vote today?
