Keira Knightley: I Owe Anne Hathaway An Apology After Being Mistaken For Her
Keira Knightley reveals that she was mistaken for Anne Hathaway at the airport while she was recently en route to the Toronto Film Festival. According to the actress, she owes Hathaway an apology because she refused to have her photo taken with the confused fan.
“At the airport a woman mistook me for Anne Hathaway,’’ she tells Australia’s Daily Telegraphadding, “I think I have to apologize to Anne Hathaway because the woman [at the airport] thought I was being really rude as Anne Hathaway not giving her a picture as Anne Hathaway, but I was really only saying that I promised I wasn’t Anne Hathaway, which I am not.”
Knightley notes, “Actually, it’s the first Anne Hathaway I have had. Generally, I get a lot of Rachel Weisz and Natalie Portman.” During the case of mistaken identity, Knightley was headed to the Toronto Film Festival to promote The Imitation Game, as well as her independent comedy, Laggies. Ironically, Hathaway was originally slated to star in Laggies. “She dropped out very late in the process and they were scrambling a bit to find somebody and I was… well, I didn’t have anything,” explains Knightley.
Knightley, who is expecting her first child with husband James Righton, says she isn’t working on any projects at the moment. “I am reading an awful lot and whatever it is meant to be hasn’t quite come to fruition,’’ she says. “I actually said yes to two films which were deeply independent and rather strange and neither of them have managed to get their finance together — for various reasons both fell through.” What do you think about Knightley being mistaken for Hathaway?
